Connecting to PC

I am trying to install Norton Ghost Trial edition remotely to another pc. I have one PC called AcerQ4 andthe other called RLPT. When I enter the name RLPT Norton/Networking finds it on the workgroup however when I get asked for network credentials, whether I put in Acer pc administrator login or RLPTs administrator login it fails to login. IP/Subnet etc are all ok, I can ping from both sides. Basically Im not sure which pc to put the account in the MMC, bearing in mind I want to remotely install Norton from the Acer PC to the RLPT PC. You want to put in the credentials for the machine your attempting to connect to and I would use this format so there is no confusion.

MACHINE\USERNAME

If the account being used is called Administrator on the RLPT computer you would specify it like this: RLPT\Administrator

Are both computers part of the same workgroup or domain?

 

make sure remote desktop is enabled on the remote machine, if you must and you have the local admin password, try chriscontrol and it will try RDP and if not it will install VNC, then you can send the file & remote desktop.

Another thing is connect to the admin share c$ copy the install to the local C: drive and have a user kick it off.
