Hi, my net connection is screwed up.

I got an update for Adobe Flash, and right away video and web sites started going slower until I had no net connection. Tried this thing where you use about:config to disable the 'plugin-container.exe' , nothing changed. Cycling my modem would give access for a few pages before it slowed down again. I was advised on another thread to do fresh installs of Adobe, Java , Shockwave but that did not fix connection problems.

Assuming it was a malware issue I got help on this thread:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=223356

Chaslang told me to refer to it for help here, after finding no malware. I suggest looking at his last post on the thread to see the Net settings found in the scan from the Combo-Fix logs. About the scan he says:

"The only issue I see ( and it is not malware ) is that your ping times are delayed or not being answered and that your network settings do not look correct"

"shows a node type of unknown and then you have IP Routing Enabled"

"shows that your DHCP lease should have already expired ( you should release and renew)"

    He asks at the end...

"I would have ever use ipconfig to release and renew your connection, and I would try to figure out why your node type is unknown. Are you really supposed to be using IP Routing? Did your ISP configure this?"

I only know that , as far as I know, my ISP hasn't configured anything on my PC, unless they can do so remotely.

I don't know how or if the Adobe update could so adversley effect my internet connection but it started imediatley after the update.

I don't know what any of the above means or how to change those settings if need be, so would need to know where to go for that. Any ideas on getting my net connection back?

Just bought the PC in Febuary and it's been running like a dream until this. So there's relativley little build up other software.

I'd check and test the router, set the DNS server to OpenDNS, 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Save and restart the router.

How do I get to those settings? Is that through the XP or by accessing the router (D-LINK, wired lan), and if so how do I get to router settings? There is another PC getting access through the router and it works fine, although after a while it will say it's not connected then you just click 'try again' and then it works but the main PC the connection doesn't work.
