    Hi all.

Since changing to TalkTalk and using their router I am having a problem with the wireless connection to my workshop/music room.
I have the AP in the loft on the same channel as my router, I have the ip in the same range. As far as I know all is well.
However, when I go up to my workshop I can connect to the AP in the loft with my iPhone and my computer for about 10 minutes then the connection is lost.
My iPhone and workshop computer can 'see' the AP in the loft but cannot connect.
Now, if it didn't connect at all then I would say I have a setting wrong somewhere but the fact that it connects then drops and wont reconnect has me stumped.
    Any clues?
    Cheers.
I've tried to attach a file to show my set up but because I have already used the file on this site it wont let me attach it to this post, strange rule!
If need be you can view it here, post #10, file name 'proposed set up'

    Hi

What is the make and model of the Talk Talk router?

Have you tried a different channel?

Any firmware updates to the router?

If it was just the computer, I would say check the power settings on the NIC to make sure any Wake on Lan (WOL) settings are turned off. Also, that is in Continuously Aware mode (CAM).
I don't know if the iPhone would have any settings to adjust these options.
Also, check that the AP is set up the same way.

    Thanks for the replies.
Another problem is that my desktop pc is also having problems connecting.
I run the internet explorer troubleshooter and it says,
'Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server). The device or resource is not responding to requests.'

The diagnostics point to my Intel Gigabit Network connection.
I can't surf the web but I can log into the router so the adapter is working.
It is a Huawai 523a router.
    Firmware version v1.12t.
    Everything is showing green.
I ran a ping test on the router to Major Geeks and it had no problem communicating yet I still can't get a Google page up?
I then tried my laptop over LAN and that worked fine??
    I'm confused now.
Too many strange things happening :cry
Edit, just uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter and I am now able to browse, Aaaargh!

    Hi

Just as a test try this as you are having a weird random issue here by the sounds of it, and this needs to be run from an elevated CMD prompt in Win7, to do this type in the search box CMD, then right click and Run as Administrator then type the belo

netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled

and hit enter, reboot and test, this may work as it aids some routers to work with Windows better.

    Thanks for the suggestion David.
Since reinstalling the netwotk adapter all seems ok.
The issue up the shed wouldn't be affected by netsh resetting would it?
If it doesn't then i'll try that if I get any more grief on this desktop or should I do it anyway?

I'm thinking the two issues are just a coincidence.

The wireless thing to the shed is a bit more strange.
I don't understand why I get connection for a certain amount of time then it drops never to work again until I reset the AP and go through setting it up again. Then I can connect but only for the short space of time.

One setting I noticed in the router, in the Advanced > Basic > LAN > DHCP the primary and secondary DNS servers are both 192.168.1.1 which is the default gateway number of the router.
    Is this right?
