I lose internet connection when the computer powers off. Next time I turn the computer on I have to manually connect to the internet. I've tried going to "Wireless Network Properties" to check the box "Connect automatically when the network is in range", but it only lasts as long as the computer is on. If I turn it off or it powers off on its own the connection is lost. Any ideas?

    thanks! :confused

Re read your post something is not setup correctly, you may have to wipe the setting off the router and start over.

What is not setup correctly? Kind of new at this, what are the steps in resetting and starting over?

    thanks

    Hi

Could try re-newing the settings for connecting to your wifi, but would like to know whats managing your Wifi network as in many cases the default Windows Wifi Manager is disabled in lieu of a 3rd party add on from say Intel, Broadcom, Atheros etc so in your system tray (bit by clock) check for Wifi icons and open then and let us know what application the are.

But if the Windows Wifi Manager then try this to reset, Click Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and on the left panel is Manage Wireless Networks, click that and is your Wifi listed if so hightlight it by clicking and choose Remove

Then go back one menu to Network and Security Center and click Connect or Disconnect, locate your Wifi and click connect, enter the details in and click the Connect Automatically box and see if that helps.

I do have a sneeky feeling a conflict is in the wifi managers and Windows and a 3rd party maybe trying to manage your connection hence my earlier question on the Wifi Icons in the system tray.
