    Greetings all,

I am having some issues with my PC connecting to the internet.
    Running XP-Pro SP3, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+, 4Gb RAM
Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC
    Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter

I have a wireless router connected to the modem, my laptop connects wirelessly, Xbox is hardwired, iPod connects wirelessly, hardwired printer to the router. My PC is hardwired to the router but cannot connect to the internet. I can print to my printer on the router and have a LAN status that says I am connected.

I took my PC to Bestbuy to have them look at it and they said it might be a virus but I don't see how a virus would be giving me this problem.

I ran Network Diagnostics through the XP Help and Support Center and came up with a DNSServerSearchOrder (FAILED) result. When I expand that menu I get 2 DNS addresses 216.255.161.13 (PASSED) and 216.255.161.15 (FAILED). If I connect my ethernet cable to either the Intel NIC or Realtek NIC it will give me the same FAILED result on the appropriate NIC.

Attempted ipconfig/flushdns with a successful result but the problem remains. Also downloaded Norton 360 3.0 trial on my laptop and installed it on my PC where it came up with no viruses.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them...I've tried everything I know and can find on the internet.

One thing that I noticed when typing 'ipconfig/all'
I get "DNS Suffix Search List: hsd1.sc.comcast.net"
I moved from South Carolina over a year ago where I had comcast, now I have a local ISP called Thames Valley Communications. I don't know if this would be giving me problems, I've been here for over 6months without this problem.

    thats weird....try ipconfig /release
    then, ipconfic /renew

    also, try resetting your modem.

Was able to solve this for the most part by following the google path and searching all over the net for people with the same problem. Was only able to get 931.5Gb out of the 1Tb drive (is that normal?).

Used http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ to create an .iso image and booted up off the disc I made. Then went into the MHDD tool and used 'NHPA' to cut the drive and restore to factory capacity. Just curious why I'm still short around 70Gb.
