Hey guys Ive had this problem for maybe 2 weeks and cant see to get it fixed, I can be on the web searching things clicking into sites then try going to the next page or a diffrent site and it takes a while to load up acting as if the connection was unplugged then 20s later works fine, then happens again. Even when iam playing a game it would be smooth then in 10s lagg and doesnt let me move acting as if i got no connection. I noticed i got a dhsp server and a dns server am I suppose to have both or one or the other?

How long have you had your internet for? Did you do anything 2 weeks ago that may have started this, adding a new computer or anything?

How is your set up are you directly connected to the cable box or through a router? try replacing the wire (CAT5) going between your computer and the cable modem and making sure it is plgged in tight including the coaxial cable

Ive had my internet for maybe 2-3 years. Havent did anything but download some clips but i figured this must be giving me some lagg so i deleted alot of them but still have this problem. I was on q3 last night and it was working fine but now when i was trying to press post repley it took some time before it came to this page. Its threw a router i reset the router and cable modem but done nothing made sure my connections were all tight and they are. Have a cable booster from cox to keep the signal strong.

You said you downloaded some clips,,,,,Just thinking that one or more of the files could have had a code, adware or spyware script,,I would take this problem to the Spyware Thread area,,,for more help..One suggestion untill you do so,,download spybot and ad aware,,as well as Stinger all free programs to clean and fix problems with Spyware and related issues,,,the Bogging down your speaking of could be a cause of the items mentioned abover,,,Good Luck ,,,Glenn

Call them,,I had discussed a similar issue on another thread,,,they have bandwith limiters in place,,,see if they can open up the line some. you have had for awhile,,but more and more users on a trunk adds up to less bandwith available for all

i have a similar problem with my dsl. or atleast had. im inbetween isps, but thats not the point. anyway, every day or so, the internet would stop working, and id have to go reset the modem, even though the sync light was still showing everything to be ok. i never quite figured out what the problem was. maybee this will help you narrow down the cause.

windows xp and internet explorer 6.0. That sucks but thats the only fast thing available in my area. Cox needs to buckle down and keep your users happy by giving more bandwitch to those who had it more :p

You may want to adjust your MTU its that packet size allowed to send in one chunk of data Maximum Transmistion Unit ,,if you are on cable or adsl,,,mtu should be 1500 ,,,..this will optimize bandwith...Glenn
