Start computer the NAS Dive Has two Drives they show up try to do a backup it fails terminated by critical error Click on the Network location for the NAS Drives it states error occured while reconnecting etc etc Connection not restored Says this for both Drives in the Nas N & P
This happens everytime windows updates and has resolved itself on occasions but I cannot get this to work now. Is there a fool proof way of doing this so it does not keep failing. I could shut the computer down restart and it would work but not now the NAS is live and waiting Computer not connecting to the NAS
The NAS is a Synology and DS216 se

    Windows 11 Home Version 23H2
    OS build 22631.5039
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1074.0
    Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor 3.80 GHz
    Installed RAM 32.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Are the shares 'public' or do you have to use a username and password?
Are you mapping the drives in Windows with net use?
If you have the drive mapping in a batch file at startup or login, try running it as an Admin.
Synology giving you the shares are in use by the user or some such error?
Log into the Synology and kick - disconnect the connected SMB users - top right of window, click the widget icon and you'll see connected users. If you kick the Http, you'll get disconnected.
After you kick them, try connecting to the shares again.

1 Shares Public - I use Max SyncUP to Backup to the NAS and it does it automatically (obviously when It can access It) I can do a Manual Backup and it does not ask for a Name and Password
2 Mapping Drives I presume you mean Network Locations its a four bay Nas 2 for each has a Name and a Drive Letter ANCESTRY (\\Nas) (N) and DATA (\\Nas) (P)
I also gave the wrong Name of the NAS its a DS224+
No I do not have a batch file as in I haven't personally installed or used one
3 Synology Windows tells me "An error occured while reconnecting to N or P The local device name is already in use This connection has not been restored" And on computer start upI can see both green as in alive and working but then they get X out and the Backup has a critical error as it cannot connect to the NAS
    4. I only used the synology software to connect the NAS to the computer when I first got it I do not use Synology anything at all only Max SyncUp
5 SMB users Don't know what this is so probably not used

Basically I use the NAS to Back up my Data from the computer to the NAS it is not used for Online Access etc it is just pure External Backup of my Files in case of Computer Drive Failure
I have spent hours (not enough Knowlege to work it out) on trying to get this working again the last time this happened it somehow fixed itself. It seems to always happen after a Windows Update and I just want something to fix it so it stops failing.
