Lately I've been having problems with Windows Explorer. Pretty much everytime I go into the My Pictures folder, or when I look at pictures on a floppy disk it crashes. Then I get this message "Windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" then my taskbar disappears and all the icons on my desktop. During this time I can't use the right click function on my mouse. Then I have to turn my computer off manually. I've been having this problem for awhile. I don't know what to do. :(

Do you have Windows Explorer set to display your pictures as thumbnails, i.e., Image Preview? If so, turn this off and see if this prevents windows explorer from crashing.

What picture viewing or editing software have you got installed? There maybe a incompatibility.

Basically, Windows Explorer underpins the desktop so that when it crashes it takes the desktop icons, taskbar and system tray with it as well.

Thank you so much for responding. How do you I tell if I have Windows Explorer set to display my pictures?

Ummm, I don't think I have any viewing or editing software. I have Microsoft Photo Editor, but that came with my computer.
