Console recovery aftermath

I was recently helping a friend with her computer and ended up doing a system restore for the recovery console. She told me she had her My Documents and Pictures files saved so I was not worried when it wiped them out. Well it turns out they were not backed up like she had thought. Is there any way to recover the My Documents, Pictures, etc.???

FIRST THING IS TO STOP USING THE COMPUTER!

There are ways of recovering lost data - Internet search under 'recover restore deleted files'. It is important not to use the computer in the meantime though, as using it can overwrite the deleted data (which remains on the hard drive until it is replaced with something else). You may think about getting your files recovered professionally, if they are worth the money.
