    Hi,

I have a gigabyte 700n pro board an athlon 2500 barton , and thermaltake proc. fan......It is an adjustable type. I noticed it was a little lower(dial) than i had left it, i adjusted my control and it just quit. There was a constant tone and I shut it down(the comp), I put a different fan in its place but still get the constant tone after a few seconds after powering up......not sure whats up, when i first shut it down it was pretty quick after the tone started......any ideas/help???

Boot seems to be ok(for the short time i tried), but with the tone coming so quick I wasn't taking any chances.......

Alot of the time aftermarket fans with fan controllers sent a weak or no signal to all to the motherboard cpu fan speed sensor when the speed drops below a certain point, this can trigger the cpu fan failure alarm or cause the computer to shutdown, also running the fan slow could have caused the cpu to overheat.

go into bios and look for a a cpu fan failure option and disable it,if that fails, check your cpu temp is normal and if the option is there disable the cpu temperature alarm,if you have not manually adjusted any bios options you could also try resetting the cmos jumper to set everything back to stock
