    Hi all!

Can anyone help? My computer keeps crashing, there is no pattern to it I've had various error massages mainly about a device driver, probably the graphics card which is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. I have tried to upgrade the drivers but when I try to install them, it tells me they are either corrupt or incomplete.

I have read and followed the instructions in "READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT". Everything downloaded and installed fine. I ran all the Spyware progs and didn't find anything major. I cannot get online in safe mode because the computer will not acknowledge my modems. So I tried the online virus and trojan scans in normal boot mode, but they never get a chance to finish before it crashes. I did note the Symantec scan seemed to have found 7 before it crashed off, so I don't know what and how to fix it.

It use to crash sometimes only when I played Sims2 but it has been getting gradually worse. I don't know what to try next.

    All help gratefully appreciated:)

    Thanks

    Helen

It could be viruses, and you're just failing to find them all. You can use internet from within safe mode but you have to pick safe mode with networking when booting up. You may want to check that.

Another option is it could be a HW failure. You may simply be over heating the processor or video card which causes random crashes. So I'd suggest getting a program to check temps and see how you're doing in that area.

    Thanks for the reply CoCo

I am booting into safe mode with networking, but it tells me I have no modem installed when I have both a dial-up and broadband functioning when I boot up normally! I don't know how to get it to acknowledge them.

I have Asus PC Probe installed to monitor the temps, it hasn't highlighted any problems, can you suggest any other progs to do this?

    Thanks again

:( Helen, I too resemble your problem and have yet to find the answer. My system has crashed 16 times scince February 17, and very random, 17 days between crashes max and less than 10 minutes minimum. All scans required show no problem and no internet access in safe mode. Only Trend was difficult and would download properly only once, scince has refused to download. Spyware has been cleaned immunities installed REgistry cleaned up, and still a problem. How about it Geeks, solve this one and we buy the drinks for the whole room.

System is new, built by Systemax, only one driver installed by me. They say if I want them to fix it to mail it back to them and sit on my hands till they get around to send ing it back with no guarantees it will do any good.

    lets compare notes.

This is a file I have been keeping of the system crashes I have had, have you kept some information on yours? Same problem, Possibly same scource. At least I hope this file downloaded. It doesn't seem to be telling me anything except "Downloading file, Please wait."

If the file is there see how much software, hardware, and drivers we have in common. Anything we do might be the culprit.

If the file is not there, let me know what I am doing wrong, and I will try again.

You need a non-corupt file to install.Since all your error message were about device drivers.I recomend you to somehow get a non-corupted file for installing the drivers.
    Try another pc to download.
