First, since I'm new here, hello to all.

I'm having a problem that's driving me crazy here. The hourglass is constantly flashing next to my cursor, and it won't stop. It flashes all the time when I'm on the internet, but when I first turn my computer on before I go to the internet, it doesn't flash. I have cable, so it's always on until I turn it off for the day. Another thing that is happening is that I can type four words before they show up on a page. I did contact my internet provider, and they're sending a tech out, because when I did a speed test of my internet connnection, it will go from 136000 Kbps to 391.1 Kbps, then jump back to 102000 Kbps, and about 4 minutes ago it was 251.1 Kbps. I don't know if it is the internet connection or not. I ran Ad-Aware, SpyBot, my Norton Anti-Virus, defragged my hard drive and ran Trojan Hunter. This flashing hourglass is making me crazy. Any ideas on wha happened to start this so suddenly last night? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

you could try to disable the start up items using msconfig. if that didnt work then your system might be infected with spyware. you could go go to add/remove programs and check for suspicious programs.

Please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

If still having problems after doing the above, you should read the tutorial in this Sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log file as an attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Make sure you have HJT version 1.98.2 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment.
