content advisor need password

    a friend was given a computer and when he clicks on the e for internet explorer it asks him for a password and it gives a hint i tried several solutions and nothing worked to disable the content advisor what else can we try we went into the registry as told to delete a thing called key did not work i am at the end of my rope firefox is not an alternative for a web browser it is causing problems too:crybaby

    will this work if i save it to a disk and then load it on my friends computer :confused

    Yes, it should work fine to disable the content advisor. Just copy to your friend's computer and doubleclick. Though, it is just an automated version of the registry fix you found in the other post.

    Reading your post, are you saying Internet Explorer doesn't start at all? Or are you saying that it is blocking certain websites?

    okay first when i click on the e for internet explorer that is when it asks for a password. second when i put the disk that has the program mentioned in this forum in my friends computer to find the password what would i be looking for to know what the password is? and do i use add remove programs to put the program on my friends computer please tell me exactly what i need to do once i save the program to a disk :confused excuse me but i am not to familiar with computers so that is why i need to know exactly what to do i appreciate any help i can get because someone from this site major geeks.com suggested i use fire fox web browser and we tried and have had so many problems with firefox my friend would rather use internet explorer. and i need to know how i can tell what version of internet explorer he has on his computer he has windows xp pro 2002 version but does not have the operating system cd

    this is for foo you mentioned the site which version do i use at the bottom of the page it gives 3 different downloads for my problem of not knowing the password for internet explorer which one do i use that will give me the password or get rid of asking for it in order to use internet explorer :confused

    If it's the Content Advisor password you're referring to then follow the below.

    1. Download the Attachment on this post, save to the desktop.
    2. Extract the contents of the ZIP file by right clicking the file and selecting Extract.
    3. Once extracted, double click on the file "C_A_R.exe" to run the utility.
    4. You will be prompted, "Are you over 18 years of age and authorized to modify settings on this computer?", click YES and then click YES on the EULA that pop's up next.
    5. Doing this will disable the Content Advisor.
    6. After you have completed this, reboot and run IE again.
