ok, so i bought a copy of os x for amd/intel processors at a yard sale. its too scratched to work in my dvd player (which is really old). so i downloaded a torrent with the same version. when i use winrar or daemon tools to view the contents of the iso, there are 2 really small files, less than a meg total. however, the iso is 3.65 gb.

how do i view the entire contents of the iso so i can finish creating a bootable hdd to use as my installation media?

Hi bloodskin, im afraid i wont help you with the pirated download of OSX (which is likely to be infected).

However, you may be able to repair the disk...

It is quite a laborious task but some 2000 grit sandpaper will remove the scratches and then you need some buffing cloth to shine it....

Make sure you only rub in small circles!!!

Might take you an hour if your lucky. :p

NOTE: do not use anything other than 2000 grit or you risk ruining the disc completely!

sorry for the double post, but i cant find the edit button.

i have installed isobuster and discovered that everything is indeed there but daemon tools and winrar only see one section within tract 1.

i need to "burn" the entire iso to a HDD. traditionally all i would do for my linix installs and the win7 beta installs is just open with daemon tools and simply copy the contents to my hdd. im soooo lost...

are you 100% sure this will work? to buff it will i need any kind of polish?

as far as piracy goes, i have the original disk, and all the packaging, so that makes it legal. ive done my research :)

Take it there or anyplace that rents DVDs or games. They will charge you to fix it. As for the ISO issue, Apple frowns upon that.

It is worth a go i suppose but all those machines do is spray it with a cleaner while polishing it, any home disc cleanning kit is just as good but takes longer, and they are not much use with badly scratched discs in my experience, but as they only charge a few quid it is worth a go.

The sandpaper will not damage it as long as it is 2000 grit [that is some really fine sandpaper] and as long as you go in circles, also make sure not to do one spot for too long, just keep moving, or you risk wearing one spot down more than the rest.

When it comes to the buffing, some disc cleaner or something wont hurt and may speed it up a bit, but is not needed.
