Continued Service on a Brand New Laptop

Hello Everyone,

I have a customized HP laptop I bought a few months ago. In that short time, I've had to send it back to the repair center three times.

First time: Motherboard had to be replaced because of a power pin issue.

Second time: Sound board had to be replaced because you had to put your hand on the right side of the laptop to get sound. Take your hand away, no sound.

Third time: HP has it now but when I talked to them on the phone, they think it's hard drive failure. And while it's there, they're going to fix another problem - the DVD drive - since it's come back the second time, it sounds like a toy airplane. Leave it one room and you can hear it all the way across the house. It's definitely a new problem and is incredibly loud.

HP says they'll be doing a 72 hour burn in test. Does that harm the system since it's only been a few months since they probably did one when they assembled it? I don't want a toasted computer with degraded performance headed back here.

I would also like to get everyone's opinion on these issues. I could overlook the second problem because I thought it might be a fluke that the sound board didn't get pushed all the way back in when they replaced the motherboard. But a third and fourth issue...it's getting quite ridiculous.

I've made sure to tell HP how unhappy I am, even though I've always bought HPs. But, of course, they don't want to replace the unit, just keep fixing it until the warranty runs out and it's not their problem anymore.

I would try to get your money back or get them to replace the whole laptop, they gave you a lemon. Computers normally don't have that many hardware issues in that short of time. Perhaps you should invest in a Dell, or better yet, a Macintosh.
