hello everyone. i'm having a horrid time at the moment as whenever i try to execute a game exe file, it swiftly closes after a short period. it was only yesterday i was happily playing left4dead 2 via steam. however, today after my pc booted, kaspersky had found what it believed to be a trojan dropper which was attached to a file within the steam directory - which it then quarantined through a reboot process. later this afternoon i attempted to install battlefield bad company 2, this was the first occurrence of the closing exe issue which then lead onto lfd2 as well.

the 'problem details' windows reports are shown below if it's of any help, thanks in advance.

Completely disable your A/V before playing and test again.

You could try restoring any file related to Steam and your games from Kaspersky's quarantine.

IDK if this helps but i had AVG when i downloaded borderlands, and it wanted to delete the whole game as it thought the game was bugged(downloaded from steam) and i later found out that it was the AV program detecting wrong information.

I now use Microsoft Security Essentials(and i hate ms products) and it actually found a trojan that Kaspersky, AVG, spybot, adaware AND Malwarebytes totally ignored.

thanks for the help, i went back into kaspersky quarantine as suggested and i restored the file it had previously deleted, which happened to be a dll file. is now up and running.

    thanks!
