I've encounter a problem whenever I click on a control button shown in the webpage and there is no response, as if I didn't click on the buttns. However, it occurs only when I point to the control buttons, It shows javascript:xxxxxx blah blah.... on the status bar in ieexplorer  . If point to the control buttons and status bar shows a link to a web pages, they are ok.

My OS is w2k and ie is v6 and all uptodated. I think I probably disabled the javascript function. but under tool->option->advance.I have checked all the box under Java items such as Java jit, java control..etc.

By the way I have run Ad-ware SE, spybot-search and destroy, symantect Antivirus, register mechanics. The results shows no virus infection. I really appreciate your help...

You may need to download Sun Microsystems Java VM. Win2000 with SP4 removed the MS Java VM from the OS.

Thanks for your response. When I intend to remove MS Java VM using control panel-> Add/Remove Software. Once I clik the add/Remve Software icon I got error message:

    The error dialogue windows says
Error: Access is denied to: res//appwiz.cpl/places.htc
    URL: res://sp3res.dll/default.hta

After I click ok, it shows another error
    An unexpected error occured
Object doesn't support this property or method res://sp3res.dll/default.hta
    Line:82

What should I do now? It's much appreciated

    Try this,

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
    3. In the Command window, type sfc /purgecache, and then press ENTER.
    4. In the Command window, type sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER.

A Windows File Protection window appears, displaying the progress of the file system scan.

Note You may be prompted for your Windows 2000 CD-ROM. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then click Retry.
    5. After the scan has completed, remove the Windows 2000 CD-ROM from the disc drive, and then restart your computer.

    Now try the Add/Remove function.
