Control Panel/Firewall issues

Got one problem in my Control Panel...My Security Center won't open...it's the only one that won't...I have windows Vista w/AVG 8, if that helps....

Problem #2: When I removed McAfee from my system it kept the firewall in the security center...I was told that it probably wasn't working it was just there...Soooo, when I downloaded AVG 8 something turned on the McAfee firewall and I don't know where to turn it off at....So, I got three firewalls and got the MS and AVG turned off...I tried a comcast and McAfee both and they tried to remove the firewall and said I would have to go to gateway to get it removed....Gateway wants $2 a minute and they won't gurantee the removal of the firewall.....Any suggestions???BTW, when i used Major Geeks download to remove the firewall, that's when the security center icon wouldn't work anymore....so the firewall may be gone, but can't check to see....WhiteWolf

Well, tried it out and still couldn't get into the Security center...But did notice on the "view files" that the firewall was not in it...I had run that program earlier and that's when I couldn't get the security center open...so I guess all is good....I turned my AVG firewall on...The computer is slow...Thanks for the advice, plodr....Dwight

 

Ok, an update was available for Windows concering SP1 and after I downloaded it the security center opened..McAfee is still showing on....But after running the un-install tool I viewed the results and it says the personal firewall from McAfee did not exist
