Control Panel ?

    Everything in my control panel is gone. It shows 36 items to be there but it's empty. Windows Me OS. Thanks,

    Odd. Tried refreshing the window? F5 or click refresh on the toolbar. I dunno thats really wierd

    Tried the F5 and still nothing. This is a fresh install(last night) and all was well until I installed Norton Internet Security and that's when the problem started. I can't access system restore either.

    Do you have Tweak UI or any of the other super-tweaker utilities installed?

    (And is there a joker in the house?)

    It's easy with various tweaking utilities to "hide" all of the CP applets. Look in any such application you have, find the CP control page, and check or UN-check the hiders, as needed (if that turns out to be the problem).

    IMHO, learn your lesson, reinstall and leave Nortons out, dont buy it or accept it for free again. Even at free, you were robbed. Nothing in these forums but problem after problem after problem with Nortons. AVG for antivirus and Zone alarm, both free will secure you as a firewall and protect you from viruses.

    You could try and uninstall Nortons, or check their website for this problem in their support if you like.

    Problem solved, it was really simple. All I did was to remove windows Me and install Windows 2000 Professional and AVG, all seems well now. Thanks all.

    LOL - Nothing like upgrading to a real OS :D

    Now take that NIS CD and use it as a frisbee!

    You know, CD's burn very well, I use all those damn AOL CDs as kenneling for my fireplace. Nice Green and Blue Flames. Just be sure to open a window and don't breath deeply.
