Conversion of PDF files

I was trying to convert a pdf file to an excel or even a txt file using free software. The programs were unable to convert the file and one gave a specific reason- "The file you have submitted does not appear to be a valid PDF file.This PDF file is restricted and does not allow the contents to be extracted and then converted. You must turn off the security permission setting in the PDF prior to submitting it to our service."

Is there any free software or website that is capable of removing the restriction/security permission?

 

If the PDF file/s is/are are security protected by the original creator then no, probably not. But have a look and keep trying, post back if ou find some software that will!! May come in handy for me or anyone else out there!

Not exactly sure on this subject, enver come accross that with a PDF, but I use NitroPDF, lets you edit PDF files, and as far as I know converts them to word and excel docs-cant check as I have it on my laptop in uni. But theres a free trial if you only need a once off, otherwise its $99. so pricey enough

If the PDF file is restricted by owner password, which prevents someone else from copying and printing, you can convert PDF to text for free. But the free offer expires on Jan 13, 2010, the last day?! Sorry, is this reply too late?
I don't think pdftoexcelonline.com can deal with protected PDF.
But remember you do have the legal rights to extract the content.

If all else fails your only recourse is contact the source for the document giving you permission or scanning the printed document into and converting.
