Convert camcorder signal to MPEG

Can anyone make a product/supplier recommendation for me?
My wife and I have a Sony Handycam CCD-TRV46 camcorder. I want a simple method to convert its output signal to a common PC video format (MPEG maybe)? My preference is a coaxial to USB connection, but will consider others. I am looking for all needed cables and software. I am aware of video cards that will do such, but I prefer something more mobile so that I may use it on multiple PCs. Recommendations or advice would be appreciated.

 

I have this one,its OK for what I wanted it for uploading half decent quality vid to the computer and online as most of the quality is lost anyway as the video is compressed to a mangeable file size easily downloadedI havnt played with all the settings yet but it does seem limited to 25fps in pal which isnt quite enough for quality video,not quite enough for saving all your wedding vids to harddrive for example and it is the cheapest one there

As I have said before though if you really want to save your video files in perfect quality buy a recordable DVD player "One that goes under your TV" you then have a DVD player\recorder you can use all the time and covert your camcorder vids to DVD,once on DVD they can easily be saved on your harddisk

There ar much cheaper ones these day than this I'v seen them now advertised in the UK for £59.00

Pinnacle's Dazzle fits the bill

 

I agree . . . a novice doesn't have to "crack the case" to use it, and it performs very well. Not that expensive, either. Good product.
