Hey guys, it me being annoying again LOL

Ok, what I've been doing. I have a bunch of old tapes that I want to record to my computer, burn to a cd and play on my cd player. I have the recording and the burning part down but when I burned it to a cd, it will only play on WMP not on a stereo. The file right now is a .avi format and im not sure what format its supposed to be in to play on just a regular cd player?

I did look at some old threads, tried to download something that was suggested to someone else but AntiVir keep popping up with a virus alert so thats out of the question and I looked the downloads here, tried a few different programs but Im not sure what Im looking for so I dont know if it will work.

If someone could let me know what the format is supposed to be and how I can convert it (preferrably for free :D) but if not fairly in-expensive?

    Thanks bunches!

you need a .cda format to play it on a cd player.

It's in an AVI file now? That's weird. Usually AVI's are video files. But if you can get the file into a different format (like MP3, ogg, wma, aac, anything audio) you can use "Burrrn" to convert the music to CDA and burn it for playback in any regular CD player.

Thanks hd2k. I'll try that when i get home.

I used audacity to record and it only let me save it in a few different formats (some I wasnt familiar with) and .avi was the one I thought would work.

My newest question would be is there an easier way to do what I want to do with out having to convert each file each time?

First: we need your audio files to be in ANY audio format and not in AVI. Just about any format works with BURRRN: mp3, aac, wma, ogg, and a bunch more. Visit the link above for a more complete link of supported formats. As for doing more than one at a time... BURRRN will do a full CD at once; up to 80 minutes (actually, for best results I've found Burrrn to respond better with a max of 76 or 77 minutes; anything above that and the CD's sometimes don't play correctly). And be sure to burn at 16x or slower (I use 8x) or the music can end up high-pitched and "tinny" with a high squeel in the background; so be patient and burn slower! I'm not that familiar with Audacity, so I can't help you with that at all, but in the future, save the recordings in a format listed at the BURRRN link I posted above.... good luck! And if I can be of any more help, let me know!

Hmmmm.... I've never had any trouble with BURRRRN in the past. No, it won't do .avi files, but I mentioned that numerous times in my earlier posts.
Anyway, from the error log you posted, it looks like you're running a SCSI CD burner. Try reloading and/or updating the SCSI drivers. In the meantime, I'll do some research for you and we'll see if I can find a fix for you. I'm bummed :( Burrrn has always done me right and it upsets me when I recommend software that others have problems with :cry But I will do what I can; please be patient ;) Thanx!

does anyone else have a solution?

Are you certain that the SCSI device isn't a virtual one, added by Burrrn?

Anyway, you're unlikely to find support for this app, as the developer's homepage is a spam site (maybe a mischaracterization - it's one of those ones you see when you mistype a URL - much like majorgeeks.ca....uhh, take my word for it LOL)

If you have an .MP3 file, dyamond, Nero will do the trick.

Thanks Mada, I didnt think it was my drive because it burned with other software perfectly fine, but what do I know :confused

I do have nero, but when I tried to save it as mp3 on audacity it said I needed to download something (can quote you when I get home) and when they transfer me to the site to download - it tells me im not authorized to download it rolleyes... is there any other program I could use to record with?

Guess its back to the drawing board!

Nice one Musk! That was my next step. The fact you have an audio file in .avi format is bizarre!

Does the file play at all when run through a divX-enabled media player, such as VLC?

I'm thinking what we're trying to work with just isn't going to do it.

    Thanks, Mada.
Rumour has it, that Dyamond will go on a date with whoever solves this prob for her!
Not sure where that rumour started. :innocent
And if my wife finds out....well, let's just say it won't be pretty.LOL

Thanks, musky... ill try that when I get home.

@ Mada... When I was done recording the options were .wav(which i started using hopefully it'll make things easier) .avi, .mp3 and a variety of others I didnt know. At the time .avi was the only one I knew beside .mp3 with wont work. The .avi does play on WMP.

roflmao I'd like to know where that started myself :p

(can't say it isnt true though :innocent LOL)

Then methinks Musk has advised you well. We need to rip the audio off that file.

For future reference, though, .WAV (as you mentioned), .OGG and .WMA will probably be easier to work with. (Assuming of course, you don't need additional downloads for Audacity, in the vein of the .MP3 format)
