Is there free software that will convert protected WMA files to AAC format for an IPOD, and not load my system with spyware?
My son has a ton of songs from Napster and WalMart.com that are protected WMA files.
We tried burning them to a disk, but the song title and artist does not show when transferred to ITunes then to his IPOD.

    Thanks.

    Try

http://www.majorgeeks.com/MediaMonkey_d4907.html But what happens when you burn the copy protected WMAs to CD they loose the song title tag information, so this has to be added back when you reconvert back to AAC, this should help but it can be time consuming, but free.

I am using NoteBurner Audio Converter to convert protected WMA files to AAC. It works well on both my windows and mac machine, you should give it a try.
