Can someone recommend an app that will convert rmvb (Real Media Video) files to AVI, MPEG, DVD, or just about anything else that's not RM? Freeware preferred ;) Thanx!

So what did you find that could convert over? AnyVideoConverter?
Always good information to keep on the backburner just in case. Thanks.

Even tho' I've been using it for months, I didn't know that DVDFlick would do RealMedia files. According to this >> http://www.beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html it will. Not only will DVD Flick convert the files to DVD compliant .vob files, it will also create the ISO image, and it will burn the DVD for playback in my home player (if that's what I decide to do). Once the RM files are converted to DVD format, I can then convert them to .avi files, or .mpeg's, or whatever. If DVD Flick doesn't do the job, I know that ImToo MPEG Encoder will handle it. It will convert the RM's to MPEG's, and from there, I can do just about anything with 'em....

Oh, great :( I foresee even more posts about the wonders of DvdFlick in the near future. ;)

I think, I'm going to install it just to check the authors' names. I'm betting there is at least one Dave. :p

Actually, the omnipotent, wonderous, life-giving DVD Flick would NOT convert the .RMVB files (it only does .RM files). And ImTOO reported the run time incorrectly (way too short) so I didn't even try to use it. I ended up installing the RM Encoder and using WinAVI 8.0 (WinAVI won't do Real Media files unless the encoder is installed).

    So there.

And, no. I'm not one of the authors of DVD Flick ;) I wish!

WinAvi is simple to use and gives pretty good results. Also, not too expensive for a program that works with virtually no user input. I think it's a good choice for simple conversions.

I try to avoid any Real Media files but will keep the optional RM encoder in mind. Thanks for the tip! Dave :)

By the way, I really am going to try DVD Flick the next time I need an AVI to DVD conversion. I want to try it because I'm not that fond of SUPER's interface or results even though others like it.
