I need to save a WordPerfect document as a .txt document.

WP says to print to file, which will only give the document a .prn extension.

I've tried simply changing the extension to .txt, but the document opens in Notepad with 0's at the end of each line.

I tried opening the .prn version in my ascii text editor, then saving it as .txt. Still puts 0's at the end of each line.

I've got to furnish this document as a .txt to multiple clients, who all use different software programs.:cry

    What to do?

Simplest solution is to copy the text and paste it into a Notepad document. ALL formatting is lost in a .txt file.

Well, I've got to keep the formatting, such as page numbering, line numbering, line breaks, page breaks, so that won't work either.

I opened WP 8. I have v11 on another computer.
When you have your .wpd file, click on File then Save as. In the box that come up, under File type, change from .wpd to .rtf
Since this works in a very old v8, I suspect it will also be possible in newer versions.
.rtf stands a much better chance of keeping the proper formatting than a .txt file. It also can be opened by almost everyone who receives it.
