Converting DVD -> DivX?

Is there a free encoder somewhere that I can use to convert a DVD to Divx format?

 

Freeware DVD to DivX Ripper.

 

Looks good, but I can't get it to work. I set everything up according to the labDV file and I still get this error message.

PSS -- I installed PowerDVD and still get the same error message..

 

Anyone know what this "disk may be not locked" error is and how to fix it?

 

have you put the dvd in the drive played it for a minute then stopped closed power dvd then straightaway use your ripper

even with this error you should be able to just ignore it and carry on with the ripping process anyway

thats a common problem when ripping you usually have to re-encode the audio to get it to match however i dont do any divx converting generally just backing up dvds so im not to sure of the protocol however if i need to sort anything i go here probably the best dvd ripping/authoring site on the web

good luck you need a bit of patience when you first start ripping etc but once youve sussed it it becomes second nature
