is there a program on the market that i could use to turn my DVDs into video files, im going overseas in the next few months and dont feel like carrying hundreds of DVDs around with me! :-D
So i need a program that can convert my DVDs into a video file so i can put them onto my external hard drive

If anyone knows of such a program that would be great!

I personally wouldn't use that Freez dvd ripper program as I've heard it may have a problem with subtitles and asks for money after you use the program around 10 times (using a reg entry) (possibly nagware).

:eek WHAAA?!?!?!? They DON'T WORK WELL?!?!?! Have you tried AGK??? It is probably the highest quality DVD>AVI converter available, free or paid. It isn't fast, true, but it's definitely excellent, and it is not hard to use. There's about 2 billion guides on using AGK on the web, but here's some anyway:
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/autogk.htm (full guide on ripping DVDs with DVD Decrypter and AGK)
    http://www.downloadatoz.com/howto/use-autogk.html
    http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Auto-Gordian-Knot (simple how-to in 7 steps)
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_to_avi_using_autogk.cfm (this is an EXCELLENT guide for AGK)

There are definitely faster converters available, but none are free. I have not personally used HandBrake (linked to above) but I've heard good things. #1DVDripper is good to, but it is not free. With AGK, you can leave most settings at the default, just select the source file, the output file/folder, and one or two other settings and wait....

In fact, what I am using is Pavtube DVD Ripper now.

It is used to convert DVD to many other video and audio formats, such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, MP3 compatible with iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune.

I prefer the progam as its after-sale service is good. Last month, I encountered a problem and sent it to them, they replied and solved my problem on time.

So I think when choosing an appropriate program for ourselves, we should consider not only its quality, functions, but also its after-sale service.
