converting from FAT32 to NTFS

Is it possible to switch from FAT32 to NTFS within Windows XP without reinstalling? I'm assuming not, but I thought I"d ask. (I just realized my main partition is still FAT32, probably because I upgraded from WinME.)

 

would you try Partition Magic at dos or win but I think dos is better,.

 

There is no need for that, it is as simply as entering convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs at the command prompt.

I wonder if we lose data or not, Because I alwaysuse PQ magic. what 's about your suggest,is it ok without lose data and anything ?

Either are risky. If you don't back up your data before performing such a procedure, and end up losing it (I've seen it happen), then you were just asking for trouble.

 

PQ magic is still the way I use to, do not lose Data, and anything is OK after it have been done. Windows is login good.

Convert says
Volume is in use by another process.
Do you want to force dismount? Y/N

I'm not running anything in the foreground.
It also asks me if there is I want to do it when the system starts.
