converting hd from fat32 to ntfs

Besides the fact that it's supposed to be faster searching, is there anything else? Like will it free up extra space (I'm hanging at 3.1 gigs free, will it allow more to free up)? Also, what's the risk of file loss/damage from the conversion?

 

NTFS has better security, more efficient, more better.

To gain all the benifits of NTFS, best to do from The get go, format using the NTFS then install windows.
Converting wont gain space as converting will use the same cluster size.

Worried about data loss when converting, Back up any important data, then your safe

 

Using partition magic to convert it from dos or in windows.
I sugget running from dos better and You do not lose any files.

 

These 3 will help make some space, not extra gigabytes, but every little helps.

All are free. Run all 3 after every net session. Beware, as the defaults are set, they will wipe all your old history, cookies, etc. This is what I want to happen. You may have different requirements. Check all the defaults ticked on each program as each program runs separately from the other 2. Run Cleanup! forst with the volume up, for a laugh. Bazza
