converting jpg/xsl to eps for latex doc

Hi, sorry if this is incorrectly posted but I couldn't figure out which forum was most appropriate.
I'm writing my thesis using Latex, but I am very new to it and have a few problems. I want to include screenshots and excell graphs, which is proving more difficult than I had anticipated. I'm using crimson editor and saving it using the pdflatex command in the command prompt shell. So from what I've found on the net, my files (pics, graphs, etc.) have to be in .eps format before I can convert them to .pdf, correct? I can't, however, put my files into .eps form. I don't have a suitable photoshop or coral, and Adobe doesn't seem to do it (although I didn't really know what I was looking for so perhaps it does work I just don't know how?).

I've never heard of this software, but a Google search returns numerous Latex-related sites. Perhaps you could check there. There's probably a Latex forum somewhere too.
