converting .m4a to .WMA or .WAV

I'd like to convert .w4a files in my iTunes (off a CD) into .WMA or .WAV format so they can be uploaded into Windows Movie Maker. Can I do this using VirtualDubMod or Bink & Smacker (RAD video tools)? Please walk me through it. Thank you.

It will convert your iPod files into .mp3, .mp2, .wma or .wav formats.

I downloaded Apex Video Converter Free. I tried the "Add" button on the upper left corner, but it doesn't recognize the .M4A files that I have saved under iTunes. Can you please walk me through this? Assume I have very little background knowledge.

I am unfamiliar with .m4a (I don't even have an iPod ).
The Apex Converter says it can handle iPod files, but perhaps the .m4a is something different (?)
This freeware product does specifically say it will convert the .m4a files to .mp3

I'm sorry if I'm being dense -- I've searched the link you sent me http://www.majorgeeks.com/Super_d5117.html the links within that link. I just can't find the Super product you are talking about.

I realized that I was able to convert .m4a songs off CD successfully, but not two songs I purchased off iTunes, which are .m4p files. I used Apex to convert the CD songs, but the program said it wouldn't convert copyrighted material from iTunes. So then I used a program Bink and Smacker, which converted the iTunes .m4p files into .wav files, but the sound was lost. Any other suggestions to convert iTunes songs I purchased?
