    Hi all.
I am trying to convert old tapes to cd. So far by using AUDACITY and others I can do the transfer from tape to the HD of the computer.
My problem is to fit a 90 min tape to an 80 min CD not go for MP3.
I want the CD to be played on any standard CD player.
Is it possible? I know it is possible with DVDs by loosing some quality.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Boris.

You could try a 90 min cd. Although I have no idea if it will play on a regular cd player (don't see why not though.)

Or you could speed up the playback to fit into 80 min. (change tempo from the effects menu in audacity.) but it might sound weird.

I also read somewhere that cool edit has a compress time while maintaining the pitch.

Or the easy and safe for the future option would be to get an mp3 player :p

    Hope it helps!

    Hi Destructo,
Thanks for your replay. It looks like the 90 min CDs aren't reliable. The MP3 is a better way to go.
    Best regards,
    Boris
