converting video files

Does anyone know the best way of converting a video file to AVI, WMV, MPEG etc i have tried several programs but they all require registartion and payment plus they dont convert the whole file. Is the a free converter available? Or one which converts the whole video file?

Ive gone through TONS of video conversion programs and the best free one ive come across is called "Any Video Converter"

i use SUPER , great converter especially for me
ive got a supportplus.. its like an ipod but bigger screen and camera
it takes very certain special specifications for it to play
Super is very good for that.. and free
also it converts dvds into mpg avi ..etc
most dvds are encrypted though, try dvdFAB encoder.. it stores the dvd into your hd as a vob and you can convert it through super..

pretty good and they're both free. well the dvdFAB thing is a trial but it works perfectly
