It has been a successful day to say the least! A nice trip to a country fair turned in to a mushroom excursion with my mom, and currently on the stove is a very nice pepper biff, and an enormous pan of sauce made from these delicious babies!

They are called Black Trumpet Mushroom, or... Devil's Trumpet! Most of todays lot I'm drying, the rest goes down my tummy as soon as the sauce is thick enough!

Today I can't wait to eat!

 

Hmm thick sauce and Devils Trumpet= bloating, gas, and heartburn

Awesome Solange - I love fresh wild mushroom. One of my favorites is Jew's Ear fried in virgin olive oil with crushed garlic and black pepper. Simple, but delicious.

My mother made a fantastic mushroom soup once. Fresh wild mushrooms always seem to go to a muddy color, but if you ignore that and focus on the taste, they are delicious

 

Well... I've eaten, it was delicious!

It has been a few hours, so I think we can safely say that I'm not poisoned and dying, at least not yet!

When it comes to picking wild mushrooms, I have about 5 different kinds that I know are not in anyway near poisonous ones in how they look, so they are safe. Out of those 5, there are only 3 different types that I really fancy, the Devil's Trumpet being my #1 favourite! Yum, yum, yum!

There are a few mushrooms that are delicious, that look very much like their poisonous cousins. I know that I am not skilled enough to be certain to see the difference, so I stick to what I know!

The juices from it are so black, I think you could use it as ink or to dye fabric with. The texture is nothing like ordinary mushrooms at all, not spongy or rubbery. The taste is fantastic!
