Cool Web Search

    I am having a problem with the cool web search showing up as my home page. I have been through all the threads on here and gone through each onen step by step trying to remove this problem. Now I am trying to use the link to get the hijack this website and it won't open. It says it cannot find it. Any suggestions?? I'm going out of my mind. Between the cool web search as my default page and the pop up trying to open some kind of dialer I'm thinking my only other option is to reinstall windows right after I copy every single file off my computer. Any thoughts??? :eek: :eek:

    If you have any success, please let me know. My e-mail is ajlenfant@hotmail.com I have the same problem with cool web search and that dialer that you do. Everyone keeps saying that you need to restore the system before it can be killed but i am on a network at work and system restore is not available to me. please help me if u can...i have had cool web search for a week now and i am starting to get used to it.

    AJ,
    You just need to do the steps we gave you back in your thread. (Same as here) Execute the READ steps. After that if still having a problem I told you to post a HijackThis log. If you guys, would just follow the procedures you would probably aleady have the fixes you need.

    Kodo, thank you very much for your reply. I have read the threads and printed all the tutorials and have tried each step as directed by the members of the site and alas like other threads I have read it goes away in safe mode but when I restart it comes back. I have tried several times to find the hijackthis website listed both using the link suggested and typing in it and it keeps coming up that it cannot be found.

    Chaslang, I have tried all the steps as stated in my earlier posting which I guess you didn't read before snapping your answer back. We are both doing our best I'm sure and have come to you guys for assistance. Please be patient.

    What you stated was too non-specific, " I am having the same problem and have run every free program that has been suggested on my work computer" . We have no idea what this means. If you said you ran all the programs in the READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal, we would know you were referring to our procedures and not something else. The HijackThis link is included right in that tutorial (Kodo gave it to you again) and there is absolutely no problems getting to it. You do not need to go to the the link that says Hijack This website unless you want to read Merijn's tutorial (which you don't need since we have it here on MG's). That link to Merijn works fine too but sometimes you have to keep retrying because everyone in the world is trying to get to it or it could be that the spyware you have on you PC is blocking it. That happens very often.

    YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST.
    I came into work this morning had large amounts of coffee then set out on a mission to clear up my computer. I read through the NO Hijack this log files tutorial again and downloaded hijack this. I walked through it step by step and it WORKED. I'm free I'm free..woohoo..
    I cannot thank you enough.
