Lately, my cpu has been PMS'ing and even freaked out after being maxed out for about 10-15 minutes while playing a flash game.

What are some way I can keep my computer cool, by using only things found around the house?

Turn up the A/C and set your tower near the vent, but Condensation can KILL your PC.

Take off your side pannel point box fan towards tower.

Clean your PC Dust is your enemy, lot's O Dust = HEAT, Fans, Mobo, Heatsink, PS, Drives, all of which collect dust.

    Best Advice =
Reseat your CPU heatsink & apply good thermal paste, aprox $7.00
Proper airflow thru your case, add a couple case fans, Fans can be had for as little as $3.00 each.
Clean PC = FREE if you clean yourself.

    Hi,

My machine is a DELL Latitude cpx laptop; I wonder how to keep the tempreture down? There is only ONE fan; and it does not start until the tempreture is up to 47, 48 degree celsius. I seem unable to clean the dust as suggested.

BTW, the normal tempreture for my laptop is 40 to 43 degree celsius. Is it a good tempreture? Is it possible to keep the tempreture at around 25 to 30 degree?

    Thanks indeed.

I have a Dell Latitude HT500, has only one fan, I'm unable to monitor CPU temp I have Everest loaded but it does not provide any temp readings nor does bios I'm running the last & final bios version A14, but it doesent matter the Laptop runs fine regardless of what ever temp its running at.
I believe my fan runs at two different speeds after its been running awhile it speeds up.
When I clean mine I just remove the Keyboard on the bottom of Laptop are aprox 9 screws marked with letter K I just remove them ,and use small screw driver to pop up the keyboard which exposes most of the inner workings including that single fan then I use air compressor to blow it out, I also remove battery & cdrom I blow them out too. ( dont use too much air pressure)

At Dells Web you can download service manuals for your laptop, some things are difficult to locate there, I think thier search engine Sucks atleast for older Dell stuff.

40'C isnt bad for Laptop, IMO

    Thanks, ASUS.

My laptop does not have a built-in facility for tempreture monitoring, either. I check the tempreture via HD Tune, downloaded from this website.

I want to reduce the tempreture as much as possible, as I want to prolong the life of the machine. My laptop is crucial for my work; I am worried as the machine runs non-stop for 12 hours each day.

Are there any other ways to keep the tempreture down? Will having a low room tempreture help?

    Thanks indeed.

Room temp can be a big factor.

    Google this: "Laptop cooling"
you can buy a base or plate kinda of thing that has fans to aid in cooling of your laptop, Ive heard some work well.

You said you downloaded "HD Tune" that is hard drive utility, the temps posted are probably your hard drives's?

    Thanks indeed, ASUS.

Would like to try the gadget mentioned. I only hope it works in a room with heating; currently I am freezing myself in order to keep the room tempreture low.

There is CPU facility in HD Tune, so I assume the tempreture indicated is that of the CPU. Or maybe I have mistaken. :p
