Im getting a used server which is roughly five years old. I dont have the specs on it but I can most likely get them in a couple days.
Supposibly it has one giant fan that helps cool the server and is very loud.
I was wondering if you could put a water cooling kit in it and if so which brand is the most reliable and most trusted?
Also im assuming this will cool it down alot quiter and more efficient?

I hope you're not thinking about overclocking it... servers + overclocking = bad, BAD news! But it looks like you just want to make it quieter.

If this is true (it sounds a bit far fetched) I'd ex the massive fan, and have one case fan (as long as the room is fairly cool you shouldn't have a problem) and one CPU fan (or per CPU..)

You could also go and find a quiet PSU (PSU fans make lots of noise). QuietPC make some good (allbeit expensive) PSUs.

I think watercooling is a bit OTT for somthing you arn't going to be pushing for performance.

It would be bad because you wouldn't be able to garuntee its stability... and when you are running a server, calculation errors add up over time... ending up with a hosed system if you leave it on too long. Same reason why you use ECC ram where you can.

I totally agree.. what i was trying to say is he might not be using it as a server ;) .....
