I want to copy from my printer/scanner/copier, several documents onto Word so I can edit, then send that as a single multi page document.
I get error messages about faxes when I try to copy onto computer. I do not have fax capability (no land line). I want to just email the finished product.

    Thanks

Whether you will be able to do what you want depends on the software that came with your printer/copier/scanner. The first stage is to be able to scan a document to your computer in the form of a picture file - usually .jpg or .bmp but there are many other picture formats. Stage two requires software that can 'read' any text embedded in a picture file and convert it into editable text. During this process, unless you use professional standard optical character recognition (OCR) software it's common for errors to be created and for document formats to become disarranged. What you want sounds simple but in truth is anything but.

    So true.
It all comes down to what features your scanner has.

Your best option is to scan the document to PDF, use OCR software, and then export as text or copy & paste.
If you cannot do the above, then you'll need third-party software.

    Scan to PDF.

Then, to edit the document, you'll also need PDF to Word software, or use an online service.

    BTW...
Members who have MSO 2007 or 2003 could scan & ocr using Microsoft Office Document Imaging. :D

So, change to PDF with OCR scanning in jpg or bmp. However if using MSO 2007 or 2003 use document imaging.
Documents ABC may need 3d party software unless format is disarranged, which is not uncommon for DEF if converting to MSW. Online services are available as file details GHI.
    OK, think I got it...
Jeeze, I was worried this might be a big deal.
    Thanks

I was going to ask the model of printer. My printer scanner software from HP, allows me to save in 3 formats: jpeg, pdf or tiff. I'd scan as pdf and I'm done.

I had to scan pages and pages of our high school yearbook for our 50th class reunion. (There were 603 in my graduating class so lots of pages of pictures). I scanned the pages, emailed the pdf files to the head of the committee in charge of name tags. The committee printed out the pdf files, cut out the pictures and pasted them on the name tags.
