I'm looking for my dad, using Vista, a simple freeware to copy a movie DVD disc to other DVD discs, is there such a thing?

I see Burnaware & CDBurnerXP, but do they do disc to disc?

The free version of DVDfab HD Decrypter will work fine. I seriously doubt the Windows version of anything will deal with your personal collection of commercial (store-bought) movies. You can also use DVD43 and/or DVDfab Passkey which decrypt the movies 'on-the-fly'. This means that if you use a regular disc copy program (like Nero, for example), these 'on-the-fly' apps will allow for a successful copy. Other popular programs are DVDshrink and ShrinkTo5Basic and RipIt4Me. These last 3 haven't been in active development for a while, but should still be OK.... While I haven't personally used it, I hear good things about StaxRip. It's free, and VERY flexible. Be sure to check out one of their many guides (at this link) so you'll know how to use it. If you want to rip the DVD directly to a different format (like XViD or MP4 for your iPod), take a look at WinX DVD Ripper.

    I hope this helps!!!!

(all the programs listed above are 100% free :-D )

(personally, I use the paid version of DVDfab for my decrypting needs; then I normally use AGK or avi.NET to convert the decrypted movie to an XViD/DivX file; this way I can put 6 or 7 movies on a single DVD for playback on my PC or home DVD player- it has full DivX/XViD support ;) )

Oh yeah - there's also the Free DVD Decrypter. It's not real fast, but it's free. It does a great job of copying a decrypted DVD to your hard drive, and from there you can either re-burn it as it is, or convert it using one of the programs I listed earlier. It may (or may not) be part of the DVDVideoSoft Studio collection which includes about 20 different programs for everything from CD ripping, DVD converting, video converting, burning CDs/DVDs, etc.....

Another thing - I'm pretty sure the 'on-the-fly' programs also allow you to simply drag-n-drop the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders directly off the DVD to a folder on your hard drive. Then you'd simply pop in a blank DVD and burn these folders to it and it will play in your home DVD player.

Thanks for info....shud've said, its a previosuly home made unprotected dvd movie with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders.
Will try rustyjack's suggestion, and report back....I use XP....didn't realise Vista should be so simple.

NO, rustyjack's suggestion DID NOT work, as that only wants to let me add files to a DVD disc, it does not seem to copy disc to disc as I requested.
How annoying someone posting an answer that they obviously haven't thought thru!!
    Will try the others next....

Without copy protection, Burnaware or CD Burner XP will copy the discs just fine.

Yes, thanks Just Playin, that's all I needed.

Unfortunately it says in my original post twice, copy DISC to DISC for those who might get confused or incorrectly direct me down the wrong rote....which was done anyway!!

Have you tried the free version Nero 10, it's very simple to use, there is also Clone DVD.
