I have Fedora 11. How do I copy the data from the hard drive to an external hard drive. I can't find my data cable to transfer the data and I want to put the data on a new computer with Windows 8.
    thanks in advance

    Hi

Just to clarify, your external drive has a USB data cable attached or is this the issue you cannot find it, or is the data cable you are talking about a PC to PC data cable?

If you format a USB drive to NTFS, iirc Linux can read and write in NTFS so that's compatible with Windows as its native to Windows OS, give it a test with a USB Pen Drive before formatting a larger external drive.
