Yes I know this is illegal and would never do this!!! lol honestly i wouldn't i'm merely intrigued, as are a few of my fellow friends.

but, is it possible to copy any ps2 or xbox game to a dvd r or rw disc just bye using the disc copy wizard in nero startsmart??

or do you have to use a special type of disc? i know it will fit onto a dvd disc but i'm not sure if it would run properly.

    any ideas???

This is certianly illegal, but I think it takes more than that.
I have heard friends talk of a decoder chip, or something along those lines.

I guess it may depend on which country you are in as far as legality is concerned, but it's certainly not illegal here.

As long as you own the original and you are just making a backup for personal use and not distributing it there isn't a legal issue.

Nero is not really suitable or designed for copying games.

I haven't tried X Box, but to copy PS2 games, you need a protection scanner (A Ray, Protection ID etc), plus a program like CloneCD and/or BlindWrite, DiskJuggler etc.

The protection scanner isn't vital as most PS2 games are protected by LibCrypt and aren't difficult to copy, but I use it anyway as reassurance.

You will probably however need to install a Mod Chip in order to play any backup.

I forgot to add, I don't think it is, but if my reply is somehow against forum rules, please accept my apology and delete it.

You could buy a 120gb hard drive to back up your xbox games to it..you won't need to use the disk to play the game because it would be in your hard drive....
here is a link to do that http://members.fortunecity.co.uk/austin316gb/Creating Backups.htm
and you do need a mod chip to do that....

To back up your PS2 games you could buy 120gb hard drive and a PS2 network adapter, about 35 bucks, and do the same just like the xbox but you would need to use HDloder, a simple application to back up PS2 games.....
    here is the link http://hdloader.xavboxps2.com/english/hdloader-instruction.php3

You have to pay for HDloader and you also need a mod chip...

Go to this link http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/customer/search.php?substring=hdloader&in_category=1 to get HDloader and a 120gb maxtor hard drive for 130 bucks plus shipping, not bad...
