Copying to drive 'f' not an option

    Dell 4600. w/external Sony recordable CD Rom. When I want to copy a file from desktop or other places it doesn't show this CD-ROM (f)as an option. It shows my play only CD-ROM (d) and my flash drive (g). My computer shows the 'f' drive and I can burn to it by using Nero. Any suggestions? What other info is necessary for someone to suggest something? Thanks.
