    Hi.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to copy win updates to CD, and then restore them to a new installation of win 7. if so how.
    Thanks.

Go to the download page for each update
    example: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22
Windows 7 ships with .NET 3.5 so one update would be SP1.

Of course if the computer is several years old, you'll have hundreds of updates.

I bought a refurbed computer for my husband last year and when I connected it to the internet, it proceeded to download 62 updates. Since that time,
there have been anywhere from 2 (Jan 2014) to 13 patches each month.

    Hi Plodr.
I have the updates in my computer that I am using, I want to know if I can copy them from there to another computer, hoping to save a lot of downloads.

I've never done that but can't think of any reason why you could not successfully accomplish that, assuming of course that you have the correct updates for the OS on the other computer. In other words, you could not update WinXP with updates made for Windows 7.

If these are updates you installed then no, they can not be copied to another computer just like programs can not be copied from one computer to another.

If these are files that you downloaded and saved then yes, you can burn them to a data CD and install them just like you can burn the exe part of a program to a CD and use it to install on a different computer.

Are you guys saying that if OP has 2 computers (A & B), each running same OS, that he/she could not download an update onto computer A, copy it to computer B, then install it to computer B?:confused

I have no idea what you are downloading. Is it one thing or two? Please, if you want help, at least throw a link so we know what you are doing.

WSUS v8.9 is only 2 MB and therefore shouldn't take you 2 hours to download. You can download the file from this website at:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/wsus_offline_update.html

Attached is the FAQ text file from the above program
