I have a core 2 cpu with an Intel DG965RY motherboard, and the cpu fan(Zalman CNPS9500 AT) stays at a constant 1400 rpm regardless of cpu temperature. This motherboard is supposed to control cpu fan speed, and the fan is a 4-pin fan. Does anyone have a similar setup that can tell me whether fan speed should increase smoothly with increasing cpu temp and what fan speeds at 40C vs, 50C should be?

there should be a setting in the BIOS to allow for automatic fan control. Cruise around ur BIOS and see if you can find the setting.
