Correct Post?

I need to copy my complete HD to install on another PC HD. How do I go about it? I was told to clone it but I am not sure which program to use to do it. Is Driveclone correct, and will it install and work correctly. I have Vista and want to put it on an E Machine.

That will not work if the systems are different hardware. You'd use cloning if you were changing the harddrive out in one system, say going from 100GB to 250GB. But cloning a drive and moving it into another PC is not happening, even XP would deactivate itself if there were to many hardware changes. Much like the other post said it is against the EULA.

 

Yep- foogoo is correct. When you move a hard drive that was running in one PC to a different PC, it will not boot in the new PC. 98% of the time it will simply crash to a BSOD or just keep rebooting over and over. And you'll be required to activate again. Usually, you can perform a safe reload of Windows on the new PC, but legally, you'd need a different license (product key); one per PC.... that's the Microsoft rules....

 

Thanks, the major problem is someone deleated all the devices out of the device manager. I have winsoc to try to get on the net and then run system scan etc. but the computer list no divices so I can't even get to see if the ports or COM is having problems. (not my pc, mo-in-law). She may just have to breakdown and get a new pc or pay for win 98 for reinstall b/c it came loaded on the pc and no one ever made a recovery disc.
