corrupt dll ?

    Hi,
    My brother has a compaq pressario desktop,duel core,2gig ram,vista home premium.He was trying to get a game to work age of empires 3 the asian dynasties and downloaded a .dll file from microsoft.Now the pc will not boot up (blue screen of death then switches off).He has alot of files which he does not want to lose.He was going to put his harddrive in my pc to see if he could find and delete the .dll file but are connections are different.Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.Thanyou.

    When does the BSOD occur?

    Tried booting into Safe Mode at all?

    Hi thanks Mcadam the BSOD happens when he uses the recovery disk he got with the pc and if he tries safe mode he ends up with a black screen.
