Corrupt File on C drive.

okay so i have a file that is on my C drive which is preventing me from defraging the disk or even using anything for disk optimization.
The problem came to me after playing a video game that i installed.
so i did some modifications to the game, and now the file is corrupt and pretty much stuck. i cannot delete the file, i cannot move it, cant rename.
ive asked for help on a smaller forum but no one has been able to help me with this problem.
So far ive used programs such as, file shredder, file assasin, final uninstall, ive even used multiple unlock programs, and installed something to fix directorys.
in the end i get two errors, one that the file is corrupt and unread able
and that the program cannot be stopped or deleted becuase it is in use.
(unlock program couldnt find any associated programs.)

Can anyone help me remove this file or tell me how get rid of it?

In cases like this I would download a small linux distro like Puppy Live CD. Burn the iso with Imgburn. Boot the Puppy CD, navigate to the file with the file manager and delete the file. If it still cannot be deleted, it probably is a file system problem.

 

Not a guru here, just noting that I have used Malwarebytes AntiMalware (Free) tool to remove files and programs.

WTH - its free...as are other freeware / shareware programs right here at MG.

BTW, MG is my sole go-to place for safe downloads of freeware/software, as well as PC advice...fer whatever THAT's worth!
