corrupt files, diskcheck on reboot

Man, my PC is in a world of hurt tonight. The only things I've done to it is update the firmware on my dvd burner and disable some useless startup items. When I did a reboot, I booted up to a corrupt screen! Shut down the hard way and booted back up only to find that the directory d:/windows/internet logs (zone alarm pro is creating this) is corrupt. I can rename the directory, but cannot delete it. Now, it asks me to check for disk consistency on every reboot. I have absolutely NO CHOICE but to not run a disk consistency check on reboot because it has destroyed my RAID 0 configuration not once, not twice, but 3 times. I cannot allow it to run. Now, anyone know of a good way to get rid of my corrupt files and / or stop the disk consistency check on reboot?

Hey capn, I know absolutely nothing about RAID configurations, but have you back tracked on the startup items to figure out if one of those is at fault and causing your problem.

Yeah, I systematically went back and re-enabled items. Did some system restores. Finally decided to do a full system backup to DVD - you know how long that can take! And then decided to let the disk check run at startup (what have I got to lose?). And amazingly I did not kill my Raid drives. And actually repaired the error. I'm flabberghasted. Score 1 for M$.

I've got another question... there is someone on this forum by the name "helloimtim" that replies to many posts and this one as well. Unfortunately no matter what PC I'm using or what browser I cannot see any of these posts at all. Supposedly this person responded to this thread (the #2 post appears to be missing to me). Anyone have any idea on this???

That's great, glad your back up and running. I hate doing full system backups takes forever, or at least it seems that way.

I that also, maybe one of the mods deleted it before either of us had a chance to read it. Could be one of those ppl that have nothing useful to say.

Yeah, but this is every post (I've tried to read several) made by this person that I'm having trouble with. Perhaps a nice ban would be easier if that was the case. LOL.

Could be a troll or spammer that gets auto-deleted everytime they post under that profile.

That seems to be a bit strange.... Ah, but perhaps someone else could clarify a bit?

It is a good thing you survived Capn...Cause if something happend to your RAID 0, what would you do? Unless you have backups. I hope you have nothing important on a RAID 0, I'd keep my important data on a non Raid 0 drive. It is more money, but perhaps a raid 0+1 or Raid 10 (1+0) would deliver some backup.

Personally, I would have attempted a recovery console attempt to delete the folder.

I know you can backup raid configurations, not sure if you can do it on generic motherboards. I know for a fact you can do it on servers and such.

I am a mad backup fool. I've learned this from almost losing data from my raid 0 on several occasions. Raid 0 is not for the timid or the people who do not know what they are doing... but I keep it because I like the speed. It is unfortunately a wonderful way of losing data if you're not careful. I own another 100 GB single HDD that backs up some of my important stuff and I make somewhat regular backups of that to DVD. I would suggest anyone running a RAID 0 config to do the same at the very least. :D

I have setup RAID 0, 1, and 5 myself. If I had the money for RAID 6, I'd go for it.

Unfortunately, Raid 5 and 6 are mostly servers....

Though, I'd like to see a scsi ultra wide 3 raid 0 compared to a SATA2 WD raptor based raid 0 shootout....
