    Dear Major Geeks,

I have recently removed the ntuser.vbe from my PC (Windows 8, 64bit). As I have noticed some problems afterwards (Could not start Excel and Outlook, could not save files on the desktop due to missing privileges, could not initialize File Explorer by right-click on the Windows icon on bottom left), I asked for help in the malware forum (link). After I followed the "prescribed" treatment, it was concluded that no malware was present in the system and I was advised to seek for assistance in this forum.

In the mean time, I dared to run Windows Repairer from Tweaking.com (4.1.1, free version). It performed some repairs and I was happy to notice that the symptoms described above dissappeared. However, there are few more things that are still bothering me:

    - My system is much slower than it was before infection. The initialization of File Explorer by clicking on Windows icon takes around 10 seconds, while it took me about 1 second before.

    - After executing "sfc /scannow", I (still) get the message that some corrupt files were found which were not fixed.

I would humbly request for your assistance to repair my system. Any clues about possible source of the problems would be also more than welcome.

    Best regards

Did you run it in Safe Mode, Restart, and run it again?
Run it again and upload the log file.

Sir! Thank you for your reply, sir!

Yes, sir! I ran it twice in Safe Mode with Networking, as suggested here.

Log file uploaded, sir! I allow me to mention that I ran this SFC Utility in the normal mode of Windows.

    Best regards

To fix the SFC errors - from an admin command prompt run: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Sir! Thank you for your reply, sir!

I ran DISM in admin command prompt, as instructed, sir, but it responded after some processing: the source files could not be downloaded. Use the "source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information.. The DISM log file can be found...

The strange thing is that I ran DISM under normal mode first and got this error. As the message was in German (which is set as a primary language on this computer as I currently reside in Austria), and I wanted to be save you my translation errors, I simply changed the primary language of the system to English and wanted to run DISM again. I have immediately (well, after "sign out -> sign in" to get the languange change effective) noticed that I cannot start Command Prompt or File Explorer from Win+X-menu (that's how the menu initiated by "right-click on the Windows icon on bottom left" is called, isn't it?) which was working just before. As I was not aware of any other way to start Command Prompt in admin mode, I restarted the computer in the safe mode - everything runs smoothly there - where I performed the DISM-process once again. In that sense, my system got worse again, sir!

Setting the primary language back to German did not bring the things back to work, sir!

    Best regards
