"Corrupt Message Received" when disconnecting

I have Windows XP and have been suffering from arrival of dodgy looking emails. Microsoft Outlook will receive but not send. Some anti virus scans detected and removed "Tracking cookies" which kept returning after removal until I set PC to accept no cookies. Each time I log on, I have to re-enable the Firewall as it keeps being disabled - perhaps by the "Corrupt message received" notice that appears in my when I am disconnecting from the internet. Have run about ten anti malware applications. Also Hijack this. Trouble is, I didn't know how to interpret the diagnosis of this.
If anyone has any thoughts as to how I can solve this problem, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in anticipation.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

NOTE: Cookies are normal and if you block all cookies you will wind up having problems with many websites and it will limit your Internet browsing convience that is provided by cookies.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

    Hi again,
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply to the above. I have carried out nearly all the scans and nothing untoward showed up. However it wouldn't let me access Panda. I have noticed my Firewall keeps being turned off between visits to the internet. Still receiving emails asking for Bank details (not opened any) and the "Corrupt message received - no terminator" message when I disconnect.
I hope I have managed to attack the results of the Hijack this scan.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Please install HijackThis as instructed in step 7 of the READ ME.

Also complete the other steps of the READ ME that you have not run:
    - MS Windows Defender
    - Attach the Bitdefender log

Let's get an installed programs list from HijackThis too!
    • Run HijackThis, click Open the Misc Tools section
    • Click Open Uninstall Manager
    • Click Save List (generates uninstall_list.txt)
    • Click Save, to save it to a file where you can find it.
    • Attach the uninstall_list.txt file to your next message.
When you say you are "disconnecting from the Internet" exactly what do you mean? How do you disconnect from the Internet? Are you referring to exiting your browser? Which browser?

I'm aftaid I couldn't understand how to get the above log in adition to the one I had already attached. Where is Open the Misc Tools?
Have run Bitdefender and it said it didn't find anything untoward and there was no log as far as I could see. Also ran Windows Defender which also came up with nothing. Couldn't run Panda - perhaps because of blocking stuff?? I've been doing so many things, I've lost track. Not sure what I need to do to allow it to run.
When disconnecting, my Isp (Breathe) asks if I want to disconnect when I have exited browser (Internet Explorer), or Microsoft Outlook. I click Yes, and the message "Corrupt message received - no terminator" appears in the box that lets one know at which stage of connection or disconnection you are at.
Sorry not to be able to provide more precise information. As you can see, I am truly pchopeless!
Did I mention my Firewall keeps getting turned off when I go online?
    Thanks for your interest...

Please do not quote messages unless actually necessary to answer various steps like I will do below. Unnecessary quoting just clutters up the threads.

As long as you have not changed the defaults settings for HijackThis, the button is on the first windows that appears just like the instructions give. Otherwise you would have to click the Config button from the scan screen to see Misc Tools.

Talk to your ISP about this. This is not a malware issue.

Your HJT log shows no signs of any malware. This does not mean that much though since HJT logs are not a comprehensive test for malware. That is why we want all the other scans to be run. However you either said they were clean or would not run. You could try running a full scan with Ewido since you already have it installed. See it it finds anything. The only firewall that you have is Windows XP SP2 which is not a real firewall anyway. You should look into performing the steps in the below thread. Step 3 is installing a true firewall:

How to Protect yourself from malware!
